The First International Workshop on Social Recommendation Systems
SCOPE
The exponential growth of the Social media Websites poses both challenges and opportunities for recommender systems research. The Social Web has turned information consumers into active contributors creating massive amounts of information. Finding relevant and interesting content at the right time and in the right context is challenging for existing recommender approaches. At the same time, social systems by their definition encourage interaction between users and both online content and other users, thus generating new sources of knowledge for recommender systems. Users of social media on the Web often explicitly provide personal information or implicitly express preferences through their interactions with other users or with resources (e.g. tagging, friending, rating, commenting, etc.). This Social Web therefore provides huge opportunities for recommender technology and in turn recommender technologies can play a part in fuelling the success of the Social Web phenomenon.
WORKSHOP AREAS
Suggested topics include but are not restricted to:
1. Online events recommendation
2. Systems and algorithms for social recommendation
3. Models of rating behavior
4. Community detection and recommendation in social networks
5. Streaming algorithms for social data
6. Information propagation and recommendation in social networks
7. New models of advertising and monetization in social networks
PAPER SUBMISSION
All submissions should be in English. All submissions must be prepared in the IEEE camera-ready format and submitted through the EasyChair system (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=srs16), which is different from that of DSC-16 main conference. Only submissions in PDF format are accepted. Submissions are limited to 6 pages. A paper submitted to SRS-16 cannot be under review for any other conference or journal during the entire period that it is considered for SRS-16, and must be substantially different from any previously published work. Submissions are reviewed in a single-blind manner.
Please note that all submissions must strictly adhere to the IEEE templates (http://www.icdsc.net/CallForPapers.html). The templates also act as a guideline regarding formatting. In particular, all submissions must use either the LATEX template or the MS-Word template. Please follow exactly the instructions below to ensure that your submission can ultimately be included in the proceedings.
Authors must not reuse their past papers as a template. Both provided templates use the US-LETTER page size, which is the only size allowed for submissions. The LATEX template package contains four different starter files, the correct one to use as a starting point for your paper is ‘bare conf.tex’.
Authors must read the format instructions in the PDF version of the template before using it to write their paper. Authors need to make sure that the bibliography is in the required format. For LATEX, this is handled through the special downloadable file. Authors must proofread their paper PDF file before submission.
